Atlanta Toilet Repair: Common Toilet Problems That Need Attention Fast
When You’ve Got to Go, You’ve Got to Go. Morningside Plumbing Can Help.
The toilet is one of the most essential fixtures in any home. So, when you have a toilet problem, it can be easy to panic. But the good news is that many toilet problems can easily be fixed. In fact, you may be able to fix a lot of them yourself. Let’s look at a few common toilet problems and how to fix them now.
Clogged Toilet
One of the scariest problems any homeowner can have with a toilet is that the toilet might be clogged. The reason that’s so scary is that trying to use the toilet again or flush it again might cause it to overflow and flood the bathroom. If your toilet has ever been clogged (and most toilets have), you probably know that feeling of dread.
Luckily, a clogged toilet is usually one of the easiest problems to fix, as long as you don’t panic and try to flush it excessively. Instead, just use a plunger to unclog it. The plunger action might make the water level rise slightly, but it shouldn’t overflow your toilet unless the clog is extreme. After a little effort, the plunger should get rid of the clog and restore your toilet to normal.
Leaky Toilet
A leaky toilet can be a byproduct of a clogged toilet. However, it can also be caused by a clog further down your piping system, rather than within the toilet itself. If the first situation is true, the same plunging action mentioned above could solve that problem for you. However, if your clog is further into your pipe system, you may need to call in a certified plumber to locate and fix it.
Running Toilet (Water Flow Won’t Stop)
A running toilet can be caused by a few different things, but one of the most common is a pipe connecting to your toilet may need to be replaced. You can get the right pipes at any hardware or plumbing supply store. As long as you purchase the right size pipe, it should be a simple matter of disconnecting the old pipe and attaching the new one in its place. Just remember to shut off the water supply before you start working. Otherwise, you could have quite a mess to deal with.
Water Supply Valve Needs to be Replaced
Another common toilet problem you could have is that your water supply valve may need to be replaced. That issue could also cause a runny toilet or related problems. You can purchase a valve kit at any plumbing or hardware supply store and handle the replacement procedure yourself, if you want to. Again, just remember to shut off the supply of water to your toilet before beginning the repair.
The Toilet Just Won’t Flush
If your toilet just won’t flush, especially if it has just been installed, that may be a job for a professional plumber to handle. There can be a number of reasons why a toilet won’t flush, but any certified plumber can easily spot the issue and take care of it for you.
